Hey guys, I'm sorry this has been so slow-going and that I haven't posted news in a while. I got really busy at work for a bit, and now I'm heading down to San Diego Comic Con, so I'm a bit busy. Once I get back I'll have more time to jump into this thing and start sending the book around though, so start thinking about what you'd like to add. Again, I apologize that this isn't a more active project, but I promise it is certainly not forgotten!

Let me just ask, would everyone prefer that we start sending the book around now? It doesn't look like we're going to get much participation so maybe it's time to just START! :D

After all, the movie was just released! (Did everyone like it? Feel free to discuss in comments!)

I bring pictures from the 'Traveling Mickey' project, which inspired Up Tour, as well as some pictures of the scrapbook.

Traveling Mickey Project: one/ two/ three/ four
Our Scrapbook: layout for first page (dedication)/ rough idea for dedication/ rough layout for my own page

I'm still waiting on... well, most of you guys to get Skype!

Let's talk about the project and the movie! What do you guys think? :D

Alrighty guys, I'm so sorry I haven't been updating every week! There just hasn't been much to report, and I've been busy. ):

I have quite a bit of interesting news though!

First off, I'd like to host our first ever- COMMUNITY CHAT! There are more than enough of us now... still on the small side, but enough to PAR-TAY~! and talk about the future of this project. :D

All members are invited to chat! I just need to set up a date and time that'll fit everyone's schedule. So, if you're interested, comment with your messaging system and what times you're available in PACIFIC TIME! I'll work something out for everyone!

I'm also excited to share that I got Up Tour a little radio spot on Radio Pixar! You can upload the episode here, and my embarrassing little interview is a little more than halfway through.

And as always, there are quite a few new clips from UP to watch. I'll just let you surf through Upcoming Pixar for all of the links.

Less than a month until the movie is released! ARE WE EXCITED?!?!

Okay you guys... since we're still not getting that much attention, I thought I'd start doing weekly UPdates where I talk about what news we have on the actual film, UP- in addition to what news I have on our tour book.

For those of you keeping tabs on the film, there are now numerous video clips available, most of which you can find on Disney's UP website. There's a very cool video playing on Disney's home page that features everyone from Pixar talking about making their first 3D film, and how 3D is being used to enhance the story of UP. Lastly, a full clip from the film has been released, featuring Russel and Mr. Fredricksen. You can find it here on MSN video.

That's it for the movie, and there's not much to report on the book... seeing as it hasn't gone anywhere yet! I have thought a lot about the layout though and soon I'm going to have some pictures up that show the book and how I want to arrange the first few pages (the dedication, the 'title page', etc...).

I'd like to stress again... that we REALLY need more people in on this. If you know someone who might be interested, now would be a great time to tell them about it! I'm thinking more people might sign up if I actually have something to show them from the book... so I'm going to hold off on 'advertising' until I have those pictures up. Then maybe I'll pester you guys to help me get more word out.

Anyway, I guess that's it for now. Remember I'm always open for questions and suggestions, so feel free to comment if you have anything to say. :)

To clear up some confusion...

To become a member of this community, you need to sign up to work on the book. If you don't want to work on the book, you can still watch the community for updates.

If you watch the community, you will still get to see all of the spreads fans make and post. You will still get to read stories about the book, see all our UP related news, and be able to comment on entries and participate in polls and suggestion posts. The reason membership is restricted is so that I can keep personal information of those who do want to work on the book protected, and only viewable to those who need to see it (i.e. other people working on the book, i.e. other members).

Confused about something? Curious for more details on the project? Need help signing up?

Post any questions here! A mod (icthyopook, maz_z) will answer as soon as possible.

But please, read the community profile, sign up and other questions first.

Want to show Pixar your love of their movies and support of their success? Join the effort by signing up to work the tour book! Once you sign up and get a reply from one of the mods (icthyopook or maz_z) you'll be able to join the community, which will grant you access to community chats and other news just for people working on the tour book!

If you don't want to work on the book, no worries! Watching the community will still allow you to see images of the book and track it's progress across the U.S.!

Anyone can sign up to send things to the mods instead of having the book sent to them- so don't be discouraged if you live outside of the U.S. or don't have the time to deal with mail-tag.

Sign Up form and more information behind the cut!Collapse )

A new trailer for Up has been released and I thought you guys would like to see it! :D

And now for some community news! Alright you guys, I still have to sit down and figure out how exactly we're going to do this but I think we should just start getting people together. Tell all your Disney/ Pixar friends about the community! (All your trustworthy friends, anyway!) We need to get more people in on this thing. After this post I'm going to create the new sign-up page where everyone can write down their name and information. Hopefully this will pick up and we'll start getting some new members soon.

I think it would be a good idea to start hosting some community chats, where users can get to know each other and converse about Up and Pixar so that we're all comfortable sharing our addresses with each other. I'm going to put this in the community rules once I get a chance to, but PLEASE: If you at any time become uncomfortable with any user for any reason, do not hesitate to PM me (icthyopook) so we can work it out. DO NOT voice your concerns to any other member of the community. Anyway, with community chats any member will be able to join (I'll set something up and post a SECRET PASSWORD here for you guys!).

So go forth and recruit recruit recruit! We're going to make this tourbook ROCK! ;)

I know our team is small and simple at the moment, but I want everyone to know this idea hasn't been abandoned. I need some help overhauling it.

I think the effort should be made smaller. I guess I'm not going to get very many people in on this, so who cares if it gets to every state? We should just send the book to everyone in the US who wants it- provided our numbers stay relatively small. What do you guys think?

I still want international fans to be able to participate so I think I'll have them send in pre-made pages to me to assemble into the book after it's made it's rounds.

This book won't make it around and back before June, so I think the loose deadline would be better set for... the end of the year. And that way, new fans from the movie after it's release can participate as well.

ARE YOU GUYS STILL WITH ME? Any comments of advice or agreement are welcome!

Well, now that this is a community I thought I'd start sharing new ideas for the project here, so I can get feedback before PUTTING THEM TO ACTION.

To make this book about UP, Maz and I kind of togetherly thought of having fans take pictures of themselves with balloons. I have another idea similar to this.

What if in addition to the balloons, each fan that gets the book draws an 'achievement badge' for their state? I don't know how much everyone knows about UP, but the character Russell is like a boyscout ranger and he collects badges for everything imaginable. And they're completely ridiculous. "ACORN GATHERING" "CATFISH CATCHING"- I dunno, they're for everything. I thought that was really cute. So what if we made badges relevant to us or our states?

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! This in addition to balloons? Instead of? Hmm?
